Facial Cleansers and Makeup Removers
A proper facial cleanse is the foundation of any skincare routine. Without good cleansing, the rest of your products can't penetrate or work effectively.
Types of facial cleansers
- Cleansing gels: ideal for oily and combination skin.
- Milks and balms: perfect for dry or sensitive skin.
- Micellar waters: gentle makeup removers for daily use.
- Cleansing oils: the first step of the Japanese double cleanse to dissolve makeup and sunscreen.
- Exfoliants and deep-cleansing masks: 1-2 times per week.
The double cleanse: a two-step routine
If you wear sunscreen daily or makeup, the ideal technique is the double cleanse: first an oil-based cleanser (oil or balm) to dissolve oil-soluble products, followed by a water-based cleanser (gel or milk) to remove water-soluble impurities.
